WebRawhide Wash has the capability of producing high level and rapid moving water. Flows can even form new channels. More than 800 Phoenix and Scottsdale structures are within the floodplain. The District and community determined that channelizing the wash was the most effective way to reduce the risk of flooding to the surrounding area. WebRawhide Wash was identified by the Area Drainage Master Study team as a high-priority area for potential flood mitigation measures. There are currently more than 800 homes, businesses and other structures in this area at risk of flooding in a 100-year storm. The study team evaluated two potential alternatives for a structural solution
